A Fashion Timeline of the Royal Wedding

11:02: The wedding begins! The couple will soon be pronounced husband and wife, and she a fashion icon.

10:54: Catherine appears at ease regally waving to the public — looking regal comes naturally to her.

10:01: Prime Minister David Cameron and wife Samantha leave Downing Street with Mrs. Cameron wearing a teal Burberry Prorsum dress; no hat but sporting a large necklace with citrine-like stones and matching hair clip. They arrive at the abbey in two minutes.

10:40: Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice — in, ahem, statement-making hats — arrive with their father, Prince Andrew, at the abbey.

10:38: Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall in a frosty silver coat and dress leave Buckingham Palace in their Rolls-Royce.

10:49: Her Majesty and Prince Philip arrive at Westminster Abbey.

10:55: The matron of honor Coach Outlet Bags, Catherine’s sister Pippa (also in McQueen), and the page boys all enter Westminster Abbey.

10:41: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, leave Buckingham Palace. The Queen wears a bold primrose silk crepe dress, coat and hat from Angela Kelly (“a plucky Liverpudlian,” we’re told by an NBC presenter) accented with the Queen Mary’s True Lovers knot brooch.

The royal-wedding madness had gone into overdrive the night before. The paparazzi had snapped the designer Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen arriving at the Goring Hotel none too discreetly in a fur trapper hat and jeans, all but confirming rumors that she had designed the wedding dress.

10:51: The father of the bride, Michael Middleton, and bride-to-be Catherine Middleton enter a maroon Rolls-Royce Phantom VI to head to Westminster Abbey. She is wearing a diamond tiara (from 1936 and lent to her by the Queen) over a veil and her hair down. Her white and ivory Alexander McQueen dress features a strapless corset under a lace bodice, a full gazar skirt and long medieval-like sleeves.

10:31: Carole and James Middleton arrive at the abbey.

Guests, including Chelsy Davy in a green Alberta Ferretti dress and sparkly topper, start arriving at Westminster Abbey almost three hours before the wedding and sit in their folding chairs, waiting for the newly named Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to arrive. (Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II bestowed the titles upon William and Catherine only hours before the ceremony.)

11:00: Catherine, assisted by Pippa, enters the abbey in her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress. The neo-traditional gown is nipped at the waist and padded at the hips, and features handmade floral lace appliqué on the bodice and skirt. Her diamond earrings, by Robinson Pelham, are inspired by her family’s new coat of arms.

10:35: The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, leaves with his daughters Coach Outlet Bags, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, and the Earl of Wessex Coach Outlet Bags, Prince Edward, in a royal motorcade consisting of a Rolls-Royce and Daimler.

10:17: The church bells start ringing in anticipation of the Princes’ arrival.

9:46: Sir Elton John arrives, sans hat but accessorized with a yellow waistcoat and his husband, David Furnish.

9:17: David and Victoria Beckham enter the abbey — he in Ralph Lauren gussied up with his OBE medal, she with a petite, round black Philip Treacy hat with twiglike embellishment and a modified version of a voluminous black dress from her own collection. And superhigh Louboutin platform heels, of course.

9:30: Earl Charles Spencer and the “Mr. Bean” actor Rowan Atkinson arrive in regulation formal attire but add drama and comedy to the ceremony — respectively, of course.

8.15: Volkswagen minibuses carry the guests to the abbey — all signs point to a ceremony of the people.

10:43: The Duchess of Cornwall arrives at the abbey in a duck egg blue and champagne coat and dress from Anna Valentine, Jimmy Choo shoes and a Philip Treacy hat. The Prince of Wales wears a traditional uniform.

9:35: The Paris Hilton of England, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, enters wearing a dazzling blue dress (much like the color of Catherine’s sapphire), sculptural Philip Treacy hat and matching gloves.

10:18: Princes William and Harry arrive at Westminster Abbey.

10:10: Spotted in his seat, the royal wedding photographer (and fashion fave) Mario Testino looks poised to capture the first post-nuptial snaps of the couple.

10:38: Zara Phillips wearing a high-impact oversize black hat enters the abbey.

The Moment put the kettle on early this morning to provide a complete timeline of the wedding — just in case you planned on watching it tonight on DVR.

10:24: Carole Middleton with son James (looking a little over-moisturized) leave the Goring Hotel in a chauffeured Jaguar and make their way to the abbey. Mama Middleton wears a pale blue coat with ivory piping trim and ivory dress (with matching hat, natch) by Catherine Walker, a favorite of Princess Diana.

10:12: Princes William and Harry leave Clarence House in the royal Bentley, William wearing a red tunic of the Irish Guards (made of 11 separate fabrics).
