Foundation for Jammable Resources is an artist collective-cum-band whose shows blend installation SCARPE NIKE SHOX, punk and performance art. Its members — many of whom hail from California or Texas and earn paychecks in restaurants — have all been in Marfa, Tex., for about five years. Carlos Lujan and John Rayburn have played music together for 12 years and met Anthony DeSimone 4 years ago in the local scene. They started jamming together at parties, realized they had a lot in common and ultimately had a drum war in front of the Ballroom late one night during a Chinati Open House weekend. They started playing and experimenting with music with John Rayburn and decided they liked what they were doing and wanted to play live. They played a party at Jeff Elrod’s studio on the Sunday night of Chinati weekend (a night for locals to get together after all the tourists have left) and an amazing thing happened…
