Isabel Marant Malou Embellished Suede Clutch and M

Who would have thought it would take a quintessential Parisian designer to get the Native American look down pat? I’ve never been one for folksy Pocahontas-style bags, but Isabel Marant manages to nail the look with panache. Her Fall collection brims with fringe, feathers, and embroidered and patchwork denim, bags included. While a head-to-toe look would be too much, these satchels, a blend of calf suede and goat leather, take tribal American flavor to a refined cosmopolitan level.

The Malou ($1,080), with countless beads and bits of embroidery coating a petite flap burgundy clutch team soccer jerseys, makes for a casually glittering evening bag. And the stone-colored Melly shoulder bag ($1,235) adds flair to the everyday. Push-stud side pockets make for convenience and the canvas-paneled strap is classic laid-back Marant. Best of all, her intricate beading doesn’t look messy like so many Indian-inspired patterns – hers is done with a chic, knowing purpose.
